Building Hope, Connection & Community

Morgan’s Place Veterans Initiative | 2026–2027

A place to belong. A community that cares. A reason to look forward to tomorrow.

Exciting things are happening at Morgan’s Place!

We are honored to have received a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs through the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox SPGP).

This funding will help us expand our work with Veterans and their families throughout Genesee, Saginaw, Bay, and Tuscola Counties.

What Does This Grant Mean?

Simply put, it means more opportunities for Veterans to connect with others, access resources, enjoy meaningful experiences, and know they don't have to face life's challenges alone.

Suicide prevention is about more than responding to a crisis. It's also about building friendships, creating a sense of purpose, reducing isolation, and helping people feel connected to their communities.

That's what Morgan’s Place is all about.

What We're Planning for 2026–2027

Beginning with program preparation in late 2026 and expanded Veteran activities in 2027, we're looking forward to offering:

  • Veteran & Family Camping: Peaceful outdoor experiences, including access to two campers that can each sleep approximately 4–6 people.

  • Community Dinners & Gatherings: Good food, conversations, friendships, and opportunities for Veterans and families to spend time together.

  • Kayaking, Fishing & Hiking: Outdoor adventures that encourage recreation, connection, and well-being.

  • Hands-On Workshops: Blacksmithing, creative experiences, educational activities, and opportunities to discover new interests.

  • Peer Connection & Support: Opportunities to connect with fellow Veterans who understand the unique experiences of military service.

  • Resource Navigation: Helping eligible Veterans connect with appropriate VA and community services, resources, and additional support.

Stronger Together: Our Community Partners

We believe the greatest impact comes when organizations work together.

Morgan’s Place looks forward to strengthening collaboration with:

TCVA - Tuscola County Veterans Affairs

Working together to increase awareness of available Veteran resources, strengthen local connections, and help Veterans find the support they need.

Tuscola County Vet to Vet

Creating opportunities for Veteran-to-Veteran connection, peer support, and a welcoming community built on shared experiences.

Vassar Eagles

Bringing Veterans, families, and community members together through gatherings, outreach, shared meals, and special events that celebrate those who have served.

Through these relationships and others, we hope to build a stronger network of support throughout Mid-Michigan.

What Success Looks Like to Us

Success isn't simply the number of events we host or the number of people we serve.

It's a Veteran making a new friend.

It's a spouse or caregiver finding others who understand.

It's someone discovering an activity they love.

It's a person feeling welcome, supported, and connected.

And it's a community showing its Veterans that they matter.

Come Be Part of Something Special

Whether you're a Veteran, family member, caregiver, volunteer, or community supporter, there is a place for you at Morgan’s Place.

2027 is going to be an exciting year, and we can't wait to share it with you!
